Part of my job in the military was writing backwards on glass during our little pretend war games in the combat information center and pointing my gun at pretend bad guys who had boarded the ship and were plotting to take over the world while everyone slept. Another job of mine, while on galley duty, was dumping massive quantities of shredded metal stored in burlap sacks off the fantail of the ship at midnight and watching it come untied and how pretty it was when the metal shards came out of the sack and shone in the moonlight. Same for enormous melted and cooled plastic discs. Those, we tossed like frisbees to see who could throw the farthest. Sad right? I know, it keeps me up late at night sometimes, no joke.
As we speak, some trapped sailor is doing just this while knowing it’s wrong, polluting our beloved oceans with massive toxic chemicals like lead-based paint, hydraulic fluid and materials like bullet casings and disgusting plastic discs and thousands of pounds of shredded metal.
Yay! USA!
